I was browsing through my favorite affiliate marketer’s pages such has many of the super affiliates. I found a survey that gave affiliate stats. I give shoemoney credit for finding this.

www.shoemoney.com/2009/06/15/affstat-releases-key-affiliate-numbers/

I found some surprising numbers. There was a pie graph of a piece that was saying “I have been an affilaite since..” Being myself as useless affiliate, I started around 2004 just barely making money online. 2007, which was 2 years ago was when I started geting into the business then, 2008 was when I was actually more aware. 2007 was the year that had 15% on the pie graph. It was the biggest slice of the pie. So what does this mean? It means that a lot of people started back in 2007. It means the market will get more saturated soon.

“How many domains do you own?”

21+ = 39%

2-4 =28%

This number makes me think. There are people with 21+ domains and others with only 2-4. What does this mean? Can someone comment me and let me know. So you got people makin money with 21+ domains and people with 2-4 domains making money? Hmm….

“What is your average gross monthly income with affiliate programs?”

$0-$500 = 46%

$1,000-$5,000 = 21%

That sounds like a good number. There are people that make pennies vs people who make some good money. There are more to come

Well now that I got your attention how do I get started? First thing is first

Do you have a business mind frame?

I have to ask this because a lot of people get the impression that it is in a virtual world and its not the same as a physical business. In order to succeed one has to have the mind and motivation to do well.

Do you have the dedication?

First few days you are pumped. After a few weeks you start to get lazy if you are not dedicated. Ask yourself, can i say no to Friday nights and stay in front of a computer for at least 5+ hours. Can I stay up until 2am just working on it and waking up at 7am to check on it?

Do I have high hopes and dreams?

Everyone has high hopes and dreams but who acts on it? What do you want to accomplish next month and the next 5 years? Honestly my birthday is in October. My goal is to buy a 2005 BMW Z4. That is around 20-25,000. That gives me about 10 months to save that amount. Do you think my goal is too high for the time? As days go buy I think it is but if I have a high goal can I miss, I still have a good amount of success. For example, save $20,000 for the month of October. If I miss, I might have the potential of having $10,000. If I aimed for $10,000 instead i might just have $5,000. So the higher you aim the higher rate of success.

Ok so you made it this far without clicking the “X” on your browser, so I assume that you are ready. I’m not going to explain in detail what has to be done but I will explain how to prepare. Here is a list of things you should be prepared for:

1) A computer capable of doing some web design

2) Basic web design knowledge. (html, css, adobe photohop)

3) Capacity of having enough time each day

I call that Useless Affiliates “Guide to ABCs” .
