When starting off any web site with your domain and hosting stuff, you have to keep doing this over and over and it never gets easier. Let me explain what a Domain is. A domain is a unique name that helps other web sites distinguish itself. However domain names are really just a set of numbers. In reality you are just typing a bunch of letters that are being transcribed with numbers through the HTTP or hyper text transfer protocol. Yup that sounds familiar since this is suppose to be on your address bar. So instead of having to type in a bunch of ip numbers such as 12.345.678.9.10. you can just type in my domain name which is uselessaffiliate.com

Think of the domain name as a name tag. We are in a virtual world and we have a name tag. So now we have a name tag but no body. The body would be HOSTING. Hosting is web server space that an individual can use up and write up content in their unique domains. Without hosting you can not have a web site and vice versa. So hosting should fit your needs and not get anything too much. I have seen newbies get so much extras that it costed them $100/year to get a hosting package & the monthly payment. All you need is a basic host. Get the CHEAPEST hosting you find from your hosting company. Expensive will not be “good” for the price. Let me explain. This rule usually goes for newbies. I have seen people stay with their basic plans and still able to PPC. You will not use all your resources in one web site. However if you do use it all up you should have a good amount of revenue! Go advance when you know you need it. Btw don’t get my thought wrong, don’t get the cheapest but get the best cheapest hosting!

So lets get to the technical stuff shall we? Sign up for a domain first on any of the companies you want. I use 1and1.com since they offer one of the best prices but the worst customer service. All you need is a domain so that wouldn’t be an issue and I don’t think you will ever talk to them. Once you signed up, getting a domain to get approved will usually take 2-6 hours. I know they say 24-48 hours but they always do it fast. Next up is the hosting. Once you sign up with the hosting, they will send you your account information. Not all hosting companies use the same format so just remember this one thing. “Add Domain”. They all have something that has an add domain link. So add your domain and click submit. Your hosting should give you a name server. This usually comes in 2 or 3. It could look like this

ns2.example.xxx
ns3.example.xxx

Once that happens go to your 1and1 and go to manage domains. Click your domain box and go to DNS. Input the 2 name severs in that box. Don’t worry if you only have 2 because you don’t have to use up all the server spots. So now you have everything set up.

Within about 6 hours everything should be linked and working for you.
